Hope this finds you all well and wonderful – rested and refreshed (hahaha) from the school holidays. Seriously though, it’s been germ central in the Northern Beaches, not sure about the rest of Sydney – but I’m looking forward to some good cleansing rain to chase the bugs and cleanse our spirits!
We have a few things happening that might interest you!

  • Loobylou – Finders Keepers Fri 6th – Saturday 7th June
We are beyond thrilled that Loobylou candles have been invited back to Finders Keepers in June. It’s truly an honour to showcase something we’ve worked so very hard on and believe in so much, in such an exciting and dynamic forum. We’re surrounded by such talent and workmanship with Finders Keepers and can’t wait! I plan to get ahead of Christmas shopping (for a change) this year, and what a one stop shop that will be!
Also, we have a new retailer. Lakota Trading at 12 Lenthall Street, Kensignton. Lakota carries our entire 250ml range of candles amongst vintage wares, industrial antiques and the kicker – GREAT coffee.
  • Kid’s Art Classes / Lessons
I’m putting together a few classes for the next school holidays between myself and hopefully a couple of other locals creatives. If you’re interested let me know ASAP for first dibs on spaces. We run small classes so that your little folks can get as much out of them, and have heaps of time for exploration and experimentation as they can get.
Further to this, one of our wonderful ARTspace crew, Dawn is putting together a course for regular Art classes starting soon for after school. As above, let us know if you’re interested so you can get the information first.
We try to cater to the needs of the community as best we can and the whole aim of the ARTspace is to be an accessible, affordable safe creative space. If YOU have any ideas of courses/classes/Exhibitions you think we should be running, please let us know! Feedback is how we’ll grow.
Colourful days to you.

2014 ART classes for Adults and Teens FINALLY!!!

Hey Gang,

Following a heap of emails through the year about this very subject, I am super excited to be sending this email announcing the beginning of ‘a new era’  at the underground ARTspace – the return to classes. This email announces the beginning of some pretty exciting Art classes being run by Lisa Woolfe and Rachel Carrol (two well known and incredibly talented Artists) located in the underground ARTspace! Rachel will be doing Abstract & Mixed Media Painting (adults) and also Art Classes for Teens 12-17 years. While Lisa will be teaching Learn to Draw (adults). On top of this, plans are already underway for a Life Drawing Studio. Please find attached a flyer about the classes, or check out their website: http://artclassesnorthernbeaches.com.au

It’s been a big mission of mine to have the ARTspace as a stand alone creative space for Artists – and creatives of ANY medium to come down, and find their inner Artist is safe and fabulous surrounds. Art classes – and creating were the very core of my intention for the space but due to me being still a little unstable, and attempting to find balance – it’s something I’ve never been able to fully commit to. And a commitment it is. Art teachers (and all teachers) share something so personal and passionate and in doing so, help you to connect to your own gifts be they entire dormant thus far, or just a little dusty. That being said, the ARTspace is so special to me, and all the Studio Artists that reside within it, I wasn’t going to just hand it over to anyone was I?

So….ta dah. A new chapter begins. I am so excited to be sending you this email introducing this. I hope a lot of folks on my list have the opportunity to secure a space within Rachel and Lisa’s classes. This is just one avenue this will be promoted via so GET IN QUICK!!! I hope to see you around my neck of the woods again soon.

SO WHAT IS THE ARTSPACE?

Simply, a space for the ARTS. A destination/location/platform set up by Kere M Baker of Red Olive Studios (retail and design). In an effort to provide affordable Studio and Exhibition space, somewhere for local creatives to, well, create…the underground ARTspace was founded. Ten studio spaces, a Gallery/Function area, kitchen and bathroom backing on to a glorious backyard, the space has been mostly at capacity since it’s inception almost 4 years ago.

Our goals and plans include continuing to provide an inspiring space, educate and share creative tools, and host affordable Group and Solo shows for Artists. Further to this we are looking at hosting kids and Adults Creative classes, both with our own Artists network, and with others coming in to host their own – so there’ll be lots of opportunities and perspectives.

The new ARTspace website is moments away from launch, and includes a blog where all manner of Creative / Artistic topics are up for discussion, online shopping facilities from both our resident ARTspacers, and various trusted Artists within Australia and New Zealand. WATCH THIS (ART)SPACE!!!

About time! The ARTspace goes LIVE

Slide2

FINALLY we’re here!

In an effort to seperate the entities, and give the ARTspace the Attention is deserves, and stop all the confusion about who and what and where – we’re here to explain…

SO WHAT IS THE ARTSPACE?

Simply, as space for the ARTS. A destination/location/platform set up by Kere M Baker of Red Olive Studios (retail and design). In an effort to provide affordable Studio and Exhibition space, somewhere for local creatives to, well, create…the underground ARTspace was founded.

Initially ARTspace flew under the Red Olive Studios banner, however the ARTspace itself has been the core of it all,the constant.  Now,  Red Olive rents a teeny weeny retail spot within the ARTspace, and Kere’s office is there too for when she returns to work.

Our goals and plans for the New Year are to continue to educate, create and go back to providing Group and Solo shows for Artists, we are looking at hosting kids and Adults Creative classes, both with our own Artists network, and with others coming in to host their own – so there’ll be lots of opportunities and perspectives.
