It’s almost that time again folks, the Annual Manly Arts Festival. An incredible fortnightly event filled with all manner of creative endeavours, and where you even get to have a sneak peek into some of the Home and Group studios in the area.
Come along, have a cuppa and meet our resident Creatives which include Mixed Media Artists Jessica Watts, Melinda Jordi, Kere M Baker, Sara Dowse, along with Textile Extraordinaire Melissa Lovell of The Organic Mamas, Oil Painter Christine O’Hagan, Mosaic Artist Nichola Walker AND two new additions to the ARTspace team, Lanya of Louie & I jewellery, and Adrian Johns of Loobylou – candles with conscience! Talk about a creative hot pot.
SO WHAT IS THE ARTSPACE?
Simply, a space for the ARTS. A destination/location/platform set up by Kere M Baker of Red Olive Studios (retail and design). In an effort to provide affordable Studio and Exhibition space, somewhere for local creatives to, well, create…the underground ARTspace was founded. Ten studio spaces, a Gallery/Function area, kitchen and bathroom backing on to a glorious backyard, the space has been mostly at capacity since it’s inception almost 4 years ago.
Our goals and plans include continuing to provide an inspiring space, educate and share creative tools, and host affordable Group and Solo shows for Artists. Further to this we are looking at hosting kids and Adults Creative classes, both with our own Artists network, and with others coming in to host their own – so there’ll be lots of opportunities and perspectives.
The new ARTspace website is moments away from launch, and includes a blog where all manner of Creative / Artistic topics are up for discussion, online shopping facilities from both our resident ARTspacers, and various trusted Artists within Australia and New Zealand. WATCH THIS (ART)SPACE!!!
