(with Dawn Whitten)

Slide1Slide2

Our aim for these classes is to foster creative thinking and build self-confidence, and allow children a safe space to learn, experiment and create. Your child will learn all aspects of fine art including theory, history and techniques while having lots of fun finding their own unique style.

LANDSCAPE TERM:
The first Term of 2015 will focus on landscapes. We will look at the impressionists, the romantics and contemporary artists, realistic and abstract landscapes.T he art space has a beautiful back garden and we will make full use of it. We will learn to see the beauty that is in the natural world around us. They will learn the techniques and the theory and then they will come up with their own unique  creation at the end of the term, my using the tools and concepts they have learned, but interpreting that in a way that is unique and personal to them.

THIS YEAR WE WILL WORK TOWARDS ENTERING SHOWS AND HOSTING A SPECIAL END OF YEAR EXHIBITION AT THE ART SPACE.

As always, we hope this email finds you wonderful, well, and enjoying the possibility the New Year will bring.

We have so many exciting things happening at the ARTspace this year – INCLUDING turning 5!!! The ARTspace was such a huge leap of faith, I’ve told you before that I was manifesting the old adage, “Leap and the net shall appear..” and by goodness we let alright! It’s been an incredible journey, and seen many of us through some of the darkest and brightest days. It’s as much of an honour now as it was then. The space, had really gone from strength to strength, and the friendships and memories are a’plenty!

Do you think it’s cause for a party? I’m thinking so…more soon xxx

ARTspace Newsletter, from April and beyond…

178959_10151121945870633_706143421_nHey y’all,
Hope this finds you all well and wonderful – rested and refreshed (hahaha) from the school holidays. Seriously though, it’s been germ central in the Northern Beaches, not sure about the rest of Sydney – but I’m looking forward to some good cleansing rain to chase the bugs and cleanse our spirits!
We have a few things happening that might interest you!

  • Rachel Carrol class begins TONIGHT term 3

Beginners and beyond, Rachel has a way of melding her classes so that everyone get’s something extraordinary from them. Classes are run in 4 weeks blocks and only $150.00 per term. • Loobylou – Finders Keepers Fri 6th – Saturday 7th June
We are beyond thrilled that Loobylou candles have been invited back to Finders Keepers in June. It’s truly an honour to showcase something we’ve worked so very hard on and believe in so much, in such an exciting and dynamic forum. We’re surrounded by such talent and workmanship with Finders Keepers and can’t wait! I plan to get ahead of Christmas shopping (for a change) this year, and what a one stop shop that will be!
Also, we have a new retailer. Lakota Trading at 12 Lenthall Street, Kensignton. Lakota carries our entire 250ml range of candles amongst vintage wares, industrial antiques and the kicker – GREAT coffee.
  • Kid’s Art Classes / Lessons
I’m putting together a few classes for the next school holidays between myself and hopefully a couple of other locals creatives. If you’re interested let me know ASAP for first dibs on spaces. We run small classes so that your little folks can get as much out of them, and have heaps of time for exploration and experimentation as they can get.
Further to this, one of our wonderful ARTspace crew, Dawn is putting together a course for regular Art classes starting soon for after school. As above, let us know if you’re interested so you can get the information first.
We try to cater to the needs of the community as best we can and the whole aim of the ARTspace is to be an accessible, affordable safe creative space. If YOU have any ideas of courses/classes/Exhibitions you think we should be running, please let us know! Feedback is how we’ll grow.
Colourful days to you.

SO WHAT IS THE ARTSPACE?

Simply, a space for the ARTS. A destination/location/platform set up by Kere M Baker of Red Olive Studios (retail and design). In an effort to provide affordable Studio and Exhibition space, somewhere for local creatives to, well, create…the underground ARTspace was founded. Ten studio spaces, a Gallery/Function area, kitchen and bathroom backing on to a glorious backyard, the space has been mostly at capacity since it’s inception almost 4 years ago.

Our goals and plans include continuing to provide an inspiring space, educate and share creative tools, and host affordable Group and Solo shows for Artists. Further to this we are looking at hosting kids and Adults Creative classes, both with our own Artists network, and with others coming in to host their own – so there’ll be lots of opportunities and perspectives.

The new ARTspace website is moments away from launch, and includes a blog where all manner of Creative / Artistic topics are up for discussion, online shopping facilities from both our resident ARTspacers, and various trusted Artists within Australia and New Zealand. WATCH THIS (ART)SPACE!!!

About time! The ARTspace goes LIVE

Slide2

FINALLY we’re here!

In an effort to seperate the entities, and give the ARTspace the Attention is deserves, and stop all the confusion about who and what and where – we’re here to explain…

SO WHAT IS THE ARTSPACE?

Simply, as space for the ARTS. A destination/location/platform set up by Kere M Baker of Red Olive Studios (retail and design). In an effort to provide affordable Studio and Exhibition space, somewhere for local creatives to, well, create…the underground ARTspace was founded.

Initially ARTspace flew under the Red Olive Studios banner, however the ARTspace itself has been the core of it all,the constant.  Now,  Red Olive rents a teeny weeny retail spot within the ARTspace, and Kere’s office is there too for when she returns to work.

Our goals and plans for the New Year are to continue to educate, create and go back to providing Group and Solo shows for Artists, we are looking at hosting kids and Adults Creative classes, both with our own Artists network, and with others coming in to host their own – so there’ll be lots of opportunities and perspectives.
